Three of Norway’s largest net manufacturers are now joining forces to improve training in aquaculture.
AKVA group, Mørenot Aquaculture, and Selstad have now come together to offer a completely new and free course for their customers in the aquaculture industry. The course will be available on the training platform Blue Planet Academy
It is extremely important that both experienced and new employees are always up to date on the applicable requirements and how equipment should be used correctly. Incorrect use of equipment is one of the main reasons for escapes, so the industry is taking action to reduce this risk.

Focus on Net Pens
Norwegian aquaculture has in recent years been characterized by stricter requirements for quality, safety, and documentation. In particular, the handling and use of net pens have become an important focus area following the introduction of the NYTEK23 regulations. The need for and importance of correct terminology have contributed to the three net manufacturers taking the lead in developing this course.
We have seen that the industry needs standardized training that, in a simple and practical way, provides users with the necessary knowledge about the use, maintenance, and safety of net pens,” says Christian Sørensen of Mørenot Aquaculture.
The collaboration and work on the course began in Seafood Norway’s net group, where net manufacturers discuss current issues with the aim of finding good solutions to shared challenges. In this work, the starting point has been the alignment of the companies’ user manuals. The goal has been to establish a shared best practice for the industry.
By joining forces, we have combined experience from several of the largest players, giving the course a breadth and quality that we are proud of,” says Steinar Hansen of Selstad.

The course is digital and will be accessible to everyone. It includes, among other things:
