Healthy fish is a prerequisite for producing fish profitably. At the same time, it is difficult to keep fish healthy because so many factors influence the well-being of the fish. Factors like the environment, pathogens, stress and quality of feed need to be balanced to obtain optimal production.

This course introduces tilapia health management, focusing on the factors that influence disease occurrence and prevention in aquaculture systems. Participants will learn about the disease triangle and how interactions between the host, pathogen, and environment affect fish health. The course covers the main disease groups affecting tilapia, including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic diseases, as well as basic principles of disease diagnostics to support early detection and effective health management.
